The Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) is a global network dedicated to fostering a culture of peace, regenerative community culture, and intercultural understanding through International Voluntary Service (IVS). Established in 1948 under the aegis of UNESCO, CCIVS unites organisations worldwide within the IVS movement, providing a collaborative space for transformative, community-led projects.

CCIVS unites International Voluntary Service organisations globally, celebrating intercultural diversity and valuing everyone’s contributions.

International Voluntary Service involves collaborative hands-on work, through active participation and intercultural dialogue, it promotes a culture of peace.
Connecting the Global to the Grassroots
Volunteers work hand-in-hand with communities worldwide within a common global framework, building a more solidary, equitable, and regenerative world, promoting global citizenship and shared responsibility for everyone’s well-being.
CCIVS Objectives
To promote, advocate for and develop the voluntary service movement at national, regional and international levels with emphasis on the following priorities:
- Promote cooperation, peace, friendship and intercultural dialogue;
- Support social and ecological transitions for justice;
- Recognition of cultural sovereignty and the importance of cultural heritage preservation;
- Uphold the human rights framework;
- Foster cooperation among members and other organisations which share similar objectives;
- To cooperate and contribute to the implementation of the programmes and the initiatives of the UN and in particular UNESCO.
